Graduate Admission

Graduate Application Deadline: January 15

NSCAD Graduate Studies are ideal for those individuals who have gained sufficient experience in their own area of interest to make concentrated post-graduate study a useful choice. In some cases, the graduate programs provide, through teaching assistantships, direct contact between graduate and undergraduate students. The university offers three graduate degree programs:

Master of Design
The Master of Design program consists of 60-credits or four semesters. The program is aimed at graduates of Bachelor of Design programs or professional designers who wish to broaden their practice through further critical study and research. Admission inquiries should be directed to the Director of Admissions or to the Director of the MDes Program.

Master of Arts in Art Education

The Master of Arts in Art Education is a new degree program at NSCAD University. Its first cohort was accepted for Fall (September) 2019. NSCAD is the only place east of Quebec where museum and curatorial studies are explored at the graduate level.

The two-year Master of Arts in Art Education offers rigorous research training and hands-on experience to prepare students for careers in a variety of art education sectors. Students choose from three program streams that allow exploration within a vibrant research community focusing on current methodologies relevant to art education practices in culture and society. Admission inquiries should be directed to the Director of Admissions or to the Director of the MFA Program.
