New Student Information
New Student Checklist:
So you have been accepted to NSCAD University and you want to know what to do next? We have a short list of things you need to do and things you may want to do before your arrive for the first day of class.
- Pay your Deposit and return your Commitment Statement to Admissions;
- Register for your next semester courses (Foundation students need to return their Course Selection form to Admissions and Advanced Standing students may log in to WebAdvisor or meet with their Advisor);
- Do you have your NSCAD email address? If you did not receive your log in credentials or can not make them work please contact Admissions;
- Did you apply for your study permit? (International Students);
- Did you find a place to live this semester? NSCAD students may apply for residence with University of King's College, Saint Mary's University, Atlantic School of Theology and Granville Hall. You will also find a list of great resources on our NSCAD website for off-campus housing.
OK, so you have registered for next semester and you have a place to live. What's next?
- All new students are expected to participate in Orientation. This is full day of tours, socials and useful information. Watch your email for your invite!
- Student loans and Letters of Enrollment are managed by the Office of Student Experience. You may contact them via email or by dialing (902) 494-8260;
- Tuition is due approximately two weeks from the first day of classes. Your fees will be posted on WebAdvisor shortly before the start of each semester and the payment due date is posted in Important Dates;
- Important dates to help make your travel plans;
- Student ID cards are made at the Office of Student Experience (Fountain Campus, 5163 Duke Street, 2nd Floor);
- Getting around Halifax -- now that you have your ID card you will have access to ride the bus and ferry with no further charge simply by showing the driver your UPass. You can plan your route, find city bus maps and schedules via Google Transit or Transit 360;
- You're settled in and you know where you're going. Time to pickup some supplies and your first stop will be the NSCAD Art Supply Store. Don't buy too much until you know what you will need for the semester.
